My first and only photography class was basic photography in my senior year of college. I had
already been accepted to medical school when I took that class. If that weren't the case, my life
would have taken a much different direction. Traveling and photography have often provided much
needed rejuvenation from my training and life as a physician. I spend nearly all of my professional life
interacting with people, sick and often angry people. Nature photography is a chance to glimpse and
record solitude and beauty. There have been far too few perfect moments when season, light, sky,
subject and my presence have coincided. This portfolio contains many of those moments. Particularly
the photos of
Silver Mill in Colorado and Mabry Mill in Virginia were moments where everything
came together for fractions of a second of peace and perfection. It is that peace and beauty that I
crave and crave to record with my photography.
